Precision tools for beginning investors who refuse to guess. Learn the markets, find your edge, build wealth with intention.
We identify undervalued opportunities with patience and precision. Every trade begins with research, not emotion.
Every move is calculated. Every risk is managed. We don't chase β we wait for the moment to present itself.
Because discipline compounds. The market rewards the patient and punishes the impulsive. We are NightHawks.
Four tracks for beginners. Go at your pace, earn your badges.
What is a stock, how markets work, order types, reading charts.
PDT rule, entry signals, stop-loss strategy, when to exit.
Fast trades, Level 2 data, spread awareness, the real risk.
Dollar-cost averaging, compounding, ETFs vs stocks.
A stock is ownership in a company. Buy 1 share of Apple (AAPL) = own a tiny piece of Apple Inc. Companies issue stock to raise money instead of borrowing.
π Stocks go up when more people want to buy than sell. Supply and demand β nothing more.
Two ways to make money: price appreciation (sell higher than you paid) and dividends (company shares profits as cash payments quarterly).
The market runs 9:30 AMβ4:00 PM ET, MonβFri. NYSE and NASDAQ are the two main exchanges β both are auction houses where buyers and sellers meet electronically.
π Bull Market = rising prices. Bear Market = down 20%+ from recent highs. Both are normal β cycles repeat endlessly.
Pre-market (4β9:30 AM) and after-hours (4β8 PM) trading exist but carry more risk due to lower volume and wider spreads.
π NightHawk Rule: Enter with a limit order. ALWAYS use a stop-loss. Set your exit before you enter.
Candlestick charts show OHLC data (Open, High, Low, Close) per time period.
π―οΈ Green candle = closed higher than opened. Red candle = closed lower. Wicks show the extreme prices of that period.
Key indicators: 50-day MA (medium-term trend), 200-day MA (long-term trend), RSI (overbought above 70, oversold below 30). Volume always confirms the story.
1. What does buying a stock give you?
2. Which order auto-sells when price drops to a set level?
3. A red candlestick means:
4+ day trades in 5 business days in a margin account = Pattern Day Trader. You need $25,000 minimum to continue freely.
π A day trade = buying AND selling the same security on the same day. Cash accounts avoid PDT but funds settle in T+2 days.
Workarounds: Use a cash account. Trade on multiple brokerages. Use weekly options. Or build to $25k through swing trading first.
π Wait for the second green candle. The first says something is happening. The second confirms it's real.
π Set your exit BEFORE you enter. Know your target AND stop-loss before placing the order. Emotion destroys discipline once inside a trade.
π Minimum 1:2 R/R β risk $1 to make $2. Over 100 trades at 1:2, you only need to be right 40% of the time to be profitable.
Example: Buy at $50. Stop at $48 (risk $2). Target $54 (reward $4). That's 1:2. Always calculate this before entering β not after.
1. PDT rule minimum account balance?
2. A "Golden Cross" is when:
Scalping = entering and exiting positions within seconds to minutes, targeting tiny price moves dozens to hundreds of times per day.
π Enter at $50.00, exit at $50.15 = $0.15/share. On 1,000 shares = $150 in 45 seconds. Repeat 20Γ a day. That's the potential β and the difficulty.
Scalpers need: high-speed execution, direct market access, Level 2 order book, tight bid-ask spreads. This is not for beginners.
Level 1 = current bid and ask. Level 2 = the full order book β every buyer and seller at every price level, real time.
π 50,000 shares at ask of $50.10 vs 5,000 at bid = that wall resists upward movement. Scalpers use this to time entries and exits to the second.
Spread = gap between bid and ask. A $0.05+ spread kills scalp profits. Look for stocks with penny spreads and massive volume.
π NightHawk Rule: Master day trading first. Build bankroll AND discipline. Then explore scalping.
DCA = investing a fixed amount on a regular schedule regardless of market conditions. $200 every two weeks, rain or shine.
π When prices are high, $200 buys fewer shares. When low, it buys more. Over time your cost basis averages out β removing the impossible task of timing the market.
Set it up automatically through your brokerage. Time in the market beats timing the market for virtually every investor.
π $10,000 at 10%/year: Year 10 = $25,937. Year 30 = $174,494. You contributed $10k. Time generated $164k more. That is compounding.
The most important variable is TIME. Starting at 22 instead of 32 can double your retirement balance. Reinvest dividends through DRIP to accelerate it automatically.
An ETF is a basket of stocks trading as one. SPY tracks the S&P 500 β one share gives you exposure to the 500 largest US companies simultaneously.
π ETFs: built-in diversification, lower risk, lower upside. Individual stocks: concentrated risk, higher potential both ways, requires real research.
Buffett's advice for most people: buy VOO or SPY and hold forever. NightHawk starter allocation: 70% ETFs + 30% individual stocks.
